Yay my angel kit came, Yummy sexy Severus Snape!

Thank you so much Wisty for getting this kit organized and set to me 🙂 This is my angel kit from HSKS 10, the angels chose Severus Snape for my Character kit! Rowena Bladvak made the beautiful Swallowtail shawl with beads in lieu of nupps in yummy seasilk, thank you it’s absolutely beautiful! Plus the super shiny potions master yarn is from her. The needles (harmony interchangeable needles my favourite!), cables and the awesome green stitchmarkers are from Fleur Sweeting. The remainder of the awesome package is from Emma Wigworthy minus the yummy Snape buttons, which Emma said Lizzie Wychwood made. Thank you to you all for making me such a fantastic angel kit, I love you all!

OMG Ouch

It’s been pretty busy here, since i had to got to Madam Pomfrey’s to have some muggle dental surgery done. The procedure is now all done, but I have to spend some time in the infirmary to recover.

So I thought I’d come up with a list of 5 things that I’d take with me if I ever need to go into hiding. Just in case you never know 😉 These are also things that I have sneaked into the infirmary with me.

  1. My brand new Kindle DX.  It just arrived today and I’m already in love!  This is my second e-book reader and I love that I can have thousands of books at my finger tips.  I’m a huge bookworm, so I can’t go into hiding without having lots of reading materials!
  2. My iPod.  I can’t live without music and audiobooks, so I’d have to bring my iPod with me into hiding.
  3. A sock project with extra sock yarn.  I can’t go into hiding without brining some knitting and the perfect on-the-go projects, socks!
  4. My Power Monkey Battery Charger.  I’m bringing this with me and the solar power panel for charging.  (I don’t own the solar panel for my Power Monkey, but I really would get one if I went into hiding)  I need this just in case I need to charge my Kindle or iPod, while in hiding because you might not have access to electricity.
  5. A towel.  Not only because I’m a HHGTTG fan.  The reason is here in this long quote  written by Douglas Adams (from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy)

“A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapors; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a miniraft down the slow heavy River Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (such a mind-bogglingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can’t see it, it can’t see you); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.

More importantly, a towel has immense psychological value. For some reason, if a strag (strag: non-hitch hiker) discovers that a hitch hiker has his towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in possession of a toothbrush, face flannel, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet weather gear, space suit etc., etc. Furthermore, the strag will then happily lend the hitch hiker any of these or a dozen other items that the hitch hiker might accidentally have “lost”. What the strag will think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still knows where his towel is is clearly a man to be reckoned with.

Hence a phrase that has passed into hitchhiking slang, as in “Hey, you sass that hoopy Ford Prefect? There’s a frood who really knows where his towel is.” (Sass: know, be aware of, meet, have sex with; hoopy: really together guy; frood: really amazingly together guy.)”

First Assignment Part One — My Favourites and such!

Colour – blues, greens and reds.  I can never chose just one!

Birthday month – June

Favourite scents:  Due to allergies overly strong scents aren’t good; however I like mint, almond, lavender* , vanilla*,  jasmine* , mango, coffee,  hazelnut, chai, cinnamon, eucalyptus, rosemary  and fruity smells like mandarin orange, peach etc…  * if not overly strong and not or “fake” smelling some vanilla smells are very synthetic and those are bad.

Favourite season – summer I like the heat!

Favourite holiday – Halloween!

Favourite Fiber – silk especially sea silk!  Followed by bamboo, soysilk and cotton blends

Favourite Pattern – I really don’t have just one favourite pattern, too many to chose from!  I’ve been bitten by the shawl bug and been knitting a lot of them lately and I also love sock patterns especially Cookie A’s.

Favourite Designer – I have a few but my absolute favourite is Ysolda (fav link).  I’m sure I have almost all her patterns!

Favourite Needles – Knitpicks Options I own both metal and Harmony tip sets

Hobbies – knitting, crocheting, reading, baking and gaming (video games and board games)

HSKS newbie? (if not how many rounds have you participated in) Nope not a newbie!  I’ve been in 9 rounds including HSKS 12

Stash – Well what can I say it’s huge and not all on Ravelry, seriously!  Over 200.  I’m working on stashbusting a lot of it and to get the rest up on Ravelry so I actually know what I have!

New Term with lots of changes!

So it’s the beginning of a new term at HSKS and there are a whole lotta changes going on.  Instead of houses, we were picked into families and I was chosen for Ron’s Muddle-Headed Mates.  It’s great to see some familiar faces as well as some new.  I can’t wait to get to know all the new faces and catch up with everyone else.  Well it’s getting late and I have to start unpacking my trunk and get acquainted with these new surroundings.  I’m so excited and can’t wait for the term to officially begin!

End of term

I’m sad it the end of term already.  I feel that I’ve spent most of this term in the infirmary or super busy studying.  I’m sad to have missed our last quidditch match, but I had to attend a funeral.  It was actually not that bad the family member had a nice long life, so there was less tears and more laughs.  I felt a little awkward since I’m not technically family yet.  It is nice to be treated as if I was though.

I finished the Black Swallowtail Shawl of DooM and just need to wash and block the baby out then it’s ready for the recipient.  Not much knitting has been going on lately, I think it’s making me a wee bit cranky!

Intarsia got her package.  I’m so happy she liked it.  I had so much fun getting it together especially the magic yarn ball!  Now I just have to be patient since Emma is busy getting the house elves working on an angel package.  She was so sweet to send me a copy of her awesome Slytherin Pride socks!  I love these socks thanks Emma!  Now I just need to get up the courage to knit them 🙂  Well I’m off to watch Doctor Who and knit on a pair of socks that I’m knitting.

I hope everyone has had a great term at Hogwart’s and I look forward to see you all back in Slytherin next term!

Out for cake!!

Happy Birthday to Emma S. and me!!  We are out having cake and partyin’ hard before our Quidditch match tomorrow.  This will have to suffice for a post this week.  I also made my goal of no yarn purchases till my birthday so I have me my own shiny new ipod touch.  So much fun!
